Health Apps

Health Apps

Health apps are application programs that offer health-related services for smartphones and tablet PCs. As the name goes smart phones are becoming way to smart anybody could have ever imagined. From browsing to playing games everything is just a click away, why not health? Yes, hard to believe but our very own smart phone can keep the track of our health, build up schedules for us and even remind us about our current health status.

Due to the fact that they are easily accessible to patients both at home and on-the-go, health apps are a major part of mobile health (mHealth) programs in health care. There are many options of health apps available for purchase from different app stores. Some are build to help consumers make healthier choices in their life by offering advice about fitness or nutrition. Others help doctors and patients have a synchronous communication between geographically separated locations, like apps for diabetics that automatically sent glucose readings to their primary care physicians. Some apps aimed at physicians themselves—many apps combine mHealth with electronic medical records (EMR), allowing doctors to keep accurate records that are easily accessible.
